On September 11, 1917 — The Giants sweep the Robins at the Polo Grounds. New York takes the opener, 3 – 2, by scoring the winning run in the 10th on George Burns’ inside-the-park homer. They do it again in the nitecap, scoring two runs in the 9th to beat Jack Coombs. Pol Perritt, with relief help in the 9th, wins.
