The Giants trade infielder Andre Rodgers to Milwaukee for Alvin Dark

On October 31, 1960 —  The San Francisco Giants acquire veteran shortstop Alvin Dark from the Milwaukee Braves, San Francisco obtains their former team captain not to be a player, but rather to be the team’s new manager for the upcoming season and prom[ptly sign Dark to a two-year contract as team manager. The Giants send infielder Andre Rodgers to the Braves as compensation for Dark.
