On August 14, 1934 — At Yankee Stadium The largest weekday crowd in history watches as the Detroit Tigers sweep a pair at Yankee Stadium. It is the Tigers’ 14th straight; Schoolboy Rowe has won 13 in succession. Rowe improved to 17-4, and Red Ruffing who started for the Yankees drops to 12-8.

The top of the Tigers order did the damage, knocking out 10 hits and driving in and scoring 6 of the 7 runs. Charlie Gehringer lead the way with 3 hits, 4 RBI’s and a homerun. Lou Gehrig knocked one out for the Yankees.
