The Mets purchase slugger Dave Kingman from the Giants.

On February 28, 1975 — The New York Mets purchase slugger Dave Kingman from the Giants. The 26-year-old first baseman/outfielder was drafted by San Francisco as the team’s first pick in the initial round of the secondary phase of the 1970 amateur draft.  Kingman a well-traveled player will play with several franchises over 17 seasons and hit 442 home runs. He will have 2 stints with the Mets and he will hit 154 home runs over 6 seasons with the Mets.
