The New York Yankees are out of first place for the first time in 2 years 

On April 19, 1928 — The New York Yankees are out of first place for the first time since May 1926 as they lose to the Boston Red Sox  7-6 in the morning Patriots Day game at Fenway Park. The Red Sox down 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th, score 4 runs, Wilcy Moore allows all 4 runs to score, with the key hit being a Billy Rogell triple.

The Yankees despite the loss pound out 16 hits including 3 by Earle Combs who also drove in 3 runs. Yankees back stop Pat Collins hit the games only homerun.
