The Phillies start their slide as John Tsitouris shuts them down and Chico Ruiz steals home for the only run

On September 21, 1964,

Returning from a West Coast road trip, the Phillies are greeted at the airport by over 2,000 pennant-fever fans when they arrive in Philadelphia early in the morning. In front of the National League by six and a half games with only 12 games to play, The Philadelphia Phillies begin their infamous collapse at Connie Mack Stadium, losing 10 straight games.

They start their slide with a 1-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds when  John Tsitouris hurls a 1 – 0 shutout for the Reds over Art Mahaffey and infielder Chico Ruiz steals home (with Reds slugger Frank Robinson at the plate) in the 6th inning for the game’s only run.
