On April 26, 1977 — The Rangers trade Lenny Randle, who is still under suspension for his spring training altercation in which he fractured manager Frank Lucchesi’s cheekbone, to the Mets for a player to be named later (infielder Rick Auerbach) and cash. The 28 year-old second baseman will be shifted to third base by Joe Torre, the team’s new skipper who will replace Joe Frazier.
