On September 8, 1996 — New York Mets Catcher Todd Hundley joins Mickey Mantle as the only other switch hitter to hit 40 homers in a season when he goes deep off Joe Borowski in the seventh inning of the team’s 6-2 victory at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. The 27 year-old also breaks the club record for most homers in a single year, established in 1988 by Darryl Strawberry.
