On May 11, 1972 — Tom Seaver wins his 100th game in a 2 – 1 New York Mets victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Mets also acquire veteran outfielder Willie Mays from the San Francisco Giants for pitcher Charlie Williams and $50,000.
In the 5th Ed Kranepool homered off Bill Singer, Singer then walks the bases loaded with 2 outs and proceeds to pick off Boswell but makes an error on the play allowing Duffy Dyer to score from third. The two runs will all that Seaver will need as he improves to 5-1 on the season, and Danny Frisella will pitch the 9th to get the save.
