Twenty-year-old Stan Musial makes his major league debut against the Braves

 

On September 17, 1941 – In front of only 3,585 fans in St. Louis, twenty-year-old Stan Musial makes his major league debut against the Braves going 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs, help the Cardinals to a win over the Boston Braves.  Musial, who started the season in the Western Association (Class C), will hit .426 in 12 games. Musial will go on to play 22 seasons, all with St. Louis, collect a total of 3,630 hits, 1815 hits at home and 1815 on the road and will gain election to the Hall of Fame in 1969.
