On July 6, 1917, At Navin Field the Chicago White Sox hurlers Red Faber and Jim Scott halt Ty Cobb’s 35-game hitting streak. Faber won 254 games in his Hall of Fame career, with Cobb hitting .335 against him.

His streak began May 31. Cobb still holds the American League mark of 40 straight games, set in 1912, but George Sisler will ring up 41 games in 1922.
