The Braves beat New York, 4-2, but the team will go on to win only 37 more games this season.

On April 16, 1935, With the band playing Jingle Bells at Boston’s Braves Field on a snowy day with near-freezing temperatures Babe Ruth makes his National League debut for the Boston Braves.  “The Babe” belts out two hits, including a 430-foot home run against Carl Hubbell. Ruth’s first NL game draws 25,000 fans, the largest Opening Day crowd in Braves history.

Although the Braves beat New York, 4 – 2, the team will go on to win only 37 more games this season.
