In a marathon game, Yasiel Puig hits a two-run single with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the 17th inning, to lead the Dodgers to a 9 – 5 win over Padres. Puig thereby atones for a baserunning mistake in the 9th, when he hit a lead-off single and stole second, but then failed to advance to third base when A.J. Ellis laid down a sacrifice bunt and was left stranded as a result. The game takes 5 hours and 47 minutes to complete. The game is not over, though, since the Marlins are the home team, but Brandon League pitches a scoreless bottom of the 10th to preserve the 2 – 1 win. The Marlins are now 3-22 in June.
