Allie Reynolds hurls a 2-hitter in a 2-1 win over White Sox

On August 27, 1950 — New York Yankee Allie Reynolds hurls a 2-hitter over ten innings in a 2 – 1 win over the White Sox.

Bob Cain is the hard luck loser, Joe Dimaggio banged out 3 hits and drove in the first run on a triple, scoring Yogi Berrs and scored the winning run with one out on a   Tommy Henrich single. Cain who dropped to 6-10, scatter seven hits, walked 8 and punched out just one hitter.

Reynolds, walked only 2 and the run was unearned, from a Johnny Mize error. Reynolds went to 12-11 and the Yankees are now 31 games over 500, in a dead heat with the Detroit Tigers for the AL crown.
