He hits for the cycle and accumulates a then-record 16 total bases, thanks to a single, a double, three triples and a homer and scores 5 runs. Kid Madden pitches the whole game for Boston, surrendering 27 hits, but Twitchell also takes the mound, relieving Jersey Bakely in the 2nd inning after he has started the frame with four walks and a hit batsman. He then goes back to playing left field in the 3rd and Henry Gruber finishes the game on the mound.

Cleveland OF “Big Jim” Fridley goes a (20th c) record-tying 6-for-6 in a 21-9 romp over the host Philadelphia A’s. Al Rosen chips in with 3 HRs and 7 RBI‚ as both teams total 43 hits‚ 2 hits short of the AL mark. The Indian outfield collects 12 hits to tie the AL record‚ last tied in 1917. The Indians had been shut out in 3 out of their past 4 games‚ and held to a single hit in 2 of them.

Myril Hoag becomes first Yankee in franchise history to collect six hits in one game, a major league record of six singles. The 26 year-old outfielder’s 6-for-6 performance helps the Bronx Bombers rout Boston at Fenway Park, 15-3.
