On June 16 1953 — 1953 – Duane Pillette of the St. Louis Browns ends the New York Yankees’ win streak at 18 and the Browns’ team record 14-game losing streak with a 3 – 1 victory in Yankee Stadium. Johnny Mize becomes the 93rd player in major league history to get 2,000 hits when he singles in the only Yankees’ run in the 5th inning.
