On December 16 , 1988 — Toronto pitcher Jim Clancy has signed a free agent contract for $3.54M over 3 years. Unfairly, he is viewed as the replacement for Nolan Ryan in the Astros rotation. The 32-year-old right-hander is coming off an 11-13 season for the Blue Jays.  He will go 9-25 over 2+ seasons for the Astros before wrapping up his career with Atlanta.
