Toronto downs Seattle by a score of 16 – 2. The Blue Jays hit seven homers in the contest, including two each by Shawn Green and Carlos Delgado.

Detroit edges Seattle, 7 – 6, despite five hits by Mariners’ SS Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez hits two doubles and a pair of homers and drives in two runs in a losing cause.

Baltimore OF Eric Davis has his 30-game hitting streak snapped in a 5 – 3 loss to the Indians.

The Padres defeat the Brewers, 4 – 0, in the first game of a doubleheader behind Kevin Brown’s one-hitter. Brown fans 11 and allows only a single to OF Jeromy Burnitz. The Brewers bounce back to take the nightcap, 4 – 2.

In the Reds-Expos game, two pairs of brothers face each other, and three out of four go deep. Vladimir Guerrero and Wilton Guerrero homer for the Expos while Bret Boone hits a solo shot for the Reds. Aaron Boonefollows with a strikeout, but the Reds win, 6 – 4.

Toronto’s Roger Clemens strikes out 15 but gets a no-decision, as the Anaheim Angels win, 6 – 3.
