Atlanta Braves third baseman Terry Pendleton wins the National League MVP Award

 

 

On November 21, 1991 — Atlanta Braves third baseman Terry Pendleton, who hit .319 with 22 home runs and 86 RBI, wins the National League MVP Award. Pendleton surprisingly out-distances runner-up Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Barry Bonds (.292, 25, 116).

Pendelton raised his batting average over 80 points from last season, will lead the Braves past the Pirates and Barry Bonds and to the World Series which was one of the most classic 7 game series in history,
