On August 7, 1916 — At St. Louis, the Browns score two runs in the 7th against Nats starter Bert Gallia to tie the game. Doc Ayers relieves and Walter Johnson pitches the last 1 1/3 innings, allowing a tally in the 10th for a 3 – 2 St. Louis win. The official scorer kindly gives the loss to Gallia.
