On July 22, 1968, at Busch Stadium the Atlanta Braves set a major league record by using five relief pitchers in the ninth inning of their game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Ken Johnson, Ramon Hernandez, Claude Raymond, Dick Kelley, and Cecil Upshaw all take part in the 3 run 9th that allows St Louis to score 3 runs to tie the game, 4-4. Kelley picks up the blown save. Upshaw will stay in to pitch 5 scoreless innings of relief in the Braves 13inning 5-4 victory.

Hank Aaron had homered for the Braves in the 8th, to give them a 4-1 lead.
