Atlanta SS Jeff Blauser hits three home runs in a 7 – 4 win over the Cubs

On July 12, 1992 Atlanta Braves Shortstop Jeff Blauser hits three home runs in a 7 – 4 win over the Chicago Cubs. Blauser had hit only 39 round-trippers in the previous six seasons. He becomes only the 4th shortstop ever to hit three homers in a game, joining Ernie Banks, Barry Larkin and Freddie Patek.

The big blow was three-run shot in the 10th inning that gave Atlanta a 7-4 victory and a four-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs.

Blauser, batting only .163 (8 for 49) in his previous 23 games, hit bases-empty homers in the second and sixth innings before his game-winning blast off Paul Assenmacher (2-2). Blauser’s three homers gave him seven for the season.
