April 15, 1935, less than two months after being released by the Yankees and signed by the Braves, Babe Ruth is presented with the “key to the city” from Worcester Mayor John Mahoney prior to a pre-season exhibition game between the Braves and Holy Cross. Braves manager and HOF inductee Bill McKechnie is on the right. Ruth’s last game would be 45 days later at age 40.
