On October 20, 1936 Â â In a pitchersâ duel, Carl Hubbell (26-6) edges out Dizzy Dean (24-13) for MVP honors in the National League. It is the second time he will win the award, he won the first in 1933. In 1936 he was the first unanimous MVP pick.
