Bob Feller wins his 20th, stopping the Senators, 4 – 0, and keeping the Indians a game ahead of the Yankees. Feller is the American League’s first 20-game winner this season.
1949 – At Griffith Stadium, rookie Alex Kellner goes the distance and posts his 20th win, a 7 – 4 victory over the Washington Senators, to became the first Philadelphia Athletics 20-game winner since Lefty Grove did it in 1933. The 24 year-old southpaw’s success will be short-lived when he leads the American League with 20 losses next season.
Bob Feller, with his 12-1 victory over the Browns in St. Louis, becomes the youngest modern-era player to win 20 games. The 20 year-old Indians’ fireballer finishes the season 24-9 while posting a 2.85 ERA.
Carl Hubbell subdues the Reds, 6 – 4, for his 20th win of the season. King Carl scatters 12 hits including three apiece by Kiki Cuyler and Lew Riggs. Dick Bartell gets three hits for the Terrymen, who remain two in back of the Cards.
Wes Ferrell of the Cleveland Indians becomes the first pitcher in the 20th century to win 20 or more games in each of his first four season

Future Hall of Famer Rube Marquard wins his 20th game when the Giants beat St. Louis at the Polo Grounds, 6-3. The 25 year-old right-hander, who will finish the season with a 26-11 record, reaches the coveted milestone quicker than any other hurler in history.
Red Sox pitcher Smoky Joe Wood tops the St. Louis Browns, 3 – 2, for his 20th win.
1905 – Christy Mathewson pitches his second straight three-hit shutout against Chicago, this time beating Bob Wicker, 3 – 0.
