1922 – The Chicago Cubs obtain outfielder Jigger Statz and pitcher Vic Aldridge from the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League for eight players and cash considerations.
1922 – The following round-robin deal benefits everyone: Roger Peckinpaugh goes from the Boston Red Sox to the Washington Senators; Joe Dugan, from the Philadelphia Athletics to Boston; and Bing Miller and Jose Acosta, from Washington to Philadelphia. Acosta will be sold to the Chicago White Sox on February 4th.
1921 – The Cincinnati Reds trade Heinie Groh to the New York Giants for George Burns, Mike Gonzalez and cash.
1921 – Twelve-year Boston Red Sox veteran outfielder Harry Hooper is traded to the Chicago White Sox for outfielders Nemo Leibold and Shano Collins.

1921 – The Cincinnati Reds trade P Jimmy Ring and OF Greasy Neale to the Philadelphia Phillies for lefty Eppa Rixey, who led the National League with 22 losses in 1920. Rixey will continue to pitch his way into the Hall of Fame over the next 13 years. Neale is also a future Hall of Famer – for football. He will play just 22 games in Philly before returning to the Reds.
1921 – The Pittsburgh Pirates obtain veteran SS Rabbit Maranville from Boston. They give up OF Billy Southworth, OF Fred Nicholson, IF Walter Barbare, and $15,000.
Brooklyn trades Rube Marquard to the Reds for Dutch Ruether. The Robin’s southpaw fell in displeasure with the team after being arrested in a Cleveland hotel lobby before Game 4 for scalping World Series tickets worth $52.80 for $400 to a city police detective.
July 22, 1920 – The Red Sox protest the sale of Portsmouth (VA) shortstop Pie Traynor to the Pirates for $10‚000. The Red Sox sent Traynor to Portsmouth on the condition they would have first choice of any players. The future Hall of Fame third baseman will play just 24 games for Pittsburgh…
