The slugfest in which both teams had 15 hits took 4 hours 11 minutes breaking the nine-inning mark of sin3:57 in Cleveland’s 19-9 victory over Boston on June 10 1977 The major league mark is 4:18 in Los Angeles’ 8- 7 triumph over San Francisco on Oct 2, 1962.
Paul Molitor was hit by a pitch from loser Salome Barojas leading off the Brewer’s eighth and was forced at second, then Robin Yount and Cecil Cooper both walked to load the bases and Simmons ripped a sharp single up the middle Cooper took third on the hit and scored on a ‘Sac fly by Ben Oglivie Milwaukee scored two more runs in the ninth on Jim Gantners RBI single and a triple by yount.
