On May 17, 1912, historic Fenway Park in Boston is officially dedicated, as the Red Sox play host to the Chicago White Sox. Playing in front of an overflow crowd of 18,000+, the Red Sox lose the game, 5-2.

Ed Walsh improves to 7-2 on the young season and helps himself with a 3-3 day at the plate. He limited the Red Sox to just 5 hits, 2 coming from Tris Speaker.
