Umpire Mel Steiner is about to give the outcall but changes it to safe.
Edwards would later add a pair of insurance run with a two-run double and Reds righty Bob Purkey would improve his record to 10-1 on the season, pitching 6 strong innings and Bill Henry pitched 3 scoreless in relief and gets the retroactive save. Purkey will finish the year with 23 wins and finish third for the Cy Young Award. Robinson will steal 204 bases over his career,
