On July 14, 1968, Hank Aaron hits the 500th home run of his Hall of Fame career. The Atlanta Braves’ slugger connects against San Francisco Giants left-hander Mike McCormick, becoming the eighth player to reach the milestone. Aaron’s three-run homer over the left center field fence proves to be the difference as the Atlanta Braves beat the San Francisco Giants at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, 4 – 2.
