On June 9, 1914, at The Baker Bowl Honus Wagner becomes the first player in baseball’s modern era to reach 3,000 hits. The Hall of Fame shortstop collects the milestone hit off Erskine Mayer, during the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Cap Anson is the only other major leaguer to amass as many hits. However his hit total has changed many times over the years.
