IBAF tie breaker rule used for first time

On April 25 2011, For the first time, theĀ IBAF tie-breaker ruleĀ is used in the DutchĀ Hoofdklasse. TheĀ PioniersĀ beatĀ Mr. Cocker HCAW, 12 – 9, after the game is tied at 8 after 9 innings.Ā Norbert LokhorstĀ reaches base six times,Ā Nik Gumesonscores three andĀ Dave DraijerĀ gets the historic win. For the losing side,Ā Dirimo ChavezĀ scores four runs andĀ Maarten MulderĀ takes the defeat. Oddly, one of the umpires (Olav Steijger) andĀ official scorerĀ (Linda Steijger, Olav’s wife) had each worked another ā€œfirstā€ for the tie-breaker rule – Olav had been an umpire when the rule was first used in an international competition game at theĀ 2008 World University ChampionshipĀ and Linda had been official scorer at a game in theĀ 2008 OlympicsĀ when the rule was first used in theĀ Olympics.
