On September 13, 1962 — In Kansas City’s 5 – 4 win over the Angels, 17-year-old Ed Kirkpatrick pinch hits in the 9th for Los Angeles. He is the youngest player in the American League since Jim Derrington, in 1956, and no one younger will debut this century in the AL.
