July 7, 1941 Jerome “Dizzy” Dean signed s contract today to broadcast home games of the St. Louis Browns and St. Louis Cardinals for the next three years. Dean, in town for tomorrow’s major league all-star game, disclosed he had affixed his signature to a contract presented to him by Harry Beffa, executive of a St. Louis brewing concern. Beffa is also here for the all-star game. The contract. Dean said, calls for $5,000 for the rest of this year and $10,000 for each of the next two years. Dean’s baseball career ended in Pittsburgh last week when he gave up his coaching job with the Chicago Cubs to negotiate his new connection.
