On November 30, 1972, major league teams pull off 12 trades involving 36 players. In the biggest deal of the day, the Baltimore Orioles trade onetime 20-game winner Pat Dobson, power-hitting second baseman Dave Johnson, and two other players to the Atlanta Braves for catcher Earl Williams and infielder Taylor Duncan.
In another deal, the Kansas City Royals acquire future hitting star Hal McRae and pitcher Wayne Simpson from the Cincinnati Reds for outfielder Richie Scheinblum and pitcher Roger Nelson. McRae, who elected into the team’s Hall of Fame in 1989. McRae, during his 15-year tenure in Kansas City, will receive consideration for American League MVP five times and he will be elected into the team’s Hall of Fame in 1989.
Other deals include –
Cleveland Indians traded Del Unser and Terry Wedgewood to Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Oscar Gamble and Roger Freed.
Chicago Cubs traded Bill Hands, Joe Decker and Bob Maneely to Minnesota Twins in
exchange for Dave LaRoche.
Texas Rangers traded Horacio Pina to Oakland Athletics in exchange for Mike Epstein.
