On October 28, 1958 — On Candlestick Point, an area in which the rocks resembled candlesticks, construction begins on the Giants’ new ballpark in San Francisco. The transplanted team will play their games at Seals Stadium until a new ballpark on the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay is ready.
