On November 30 , 1998 — Randy Johnson signs a four-year deal with Arizona, ending hopes that the Astros could retain the dominating southpaw they surrendered three players to obtain.

Johnson’s 4-year $50M Deal will be a bargain for Arizona, he will go 81-27 with a 2.48 ERA, start 139 games, fire 11 shutouts and strikeout 1,400 batters. Johnson will win the Cy Young all four seasons, win the triple crown in 2002 and pitch Arizona to its first and only to date World Series title in 2001.
