On May 20, 1984 — At Minnesota making his second career start 21 year old Texan Roger Clemens earns his first major league victory as the Boston Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins, 5 – 4. Clemens pitches 7 innings striking out 7. Rich Gedman and Jim Rice each drive in two runs.

Gedman broke a 3-3 tie in the third. Clemens said, “After that I just relaxed and pitched like I know I can.”
