On May 31, 2006,Ā Roger ClemensĀ agrees to terms on a one-year deal with theĀ Houston AstrosĀ to come back for a 23rd season, or at least the remaining four months of the current season. After winning the NL Cy Young Award in his first season with Houston in 2004, and leading the team to their first World Series in 2005, Clemens returns to help the club and to pursue his dream of playing in the big leagues with his son, a prospect in the Astrosā system. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner ends his seven-month retirement by accepting a deal that will pay him approximately $12.8 million ā the pro-rated value of his $22,000,022 seasonal contract ā to pitch for the Astros for the balance of the current season.
