Rudy York hits 2 grand slams vs same pitcher

 

 

On July 27, 1946, At Sportsman’s Park, Rudy York of the Boston Red Sox hits two grand slams against Tex Shirley of the St. Louis Browns in the 2nd and 5th innings. York becomes the first player to hit two slams in one day against the same pitcher. York also has a two-run double to knock in 10 runs. He had five RBI against the Browns the day before. Leading the Sox to a 13-6 win. The Boston first baseman joins Tony Lazzeri (1936, Yankees) and Jim Tabor (1939, Red Sox) accomplishing the feat of hitting two grand slams in the same game
