St. Louis Cardinals acquire outfielder Willie McGee from the New York Yankees for pitcher Bob Sykes

On October 21, 1981, the St. Louis Cardinals make one of their best trades ever when they acquire outfielder 22 year old Willie McGee from the New York Yankees for pitcher Bob Sykes. McGee will play 18 years in the major leagues, mostly with St. Louis. McGee was their 1977 first-round (15th overall). 

Mcgee we will the 1985 MVP award, become a 4 time all star, won multiple gold gloves, and play in 3 World Series for the Cardinals, including the 1982 Series where he was a key figure in the World Championship win over the Brewers he will also capturing two batting crowns (1985, 1990), and earning three Gold Gloves (1983, 1985, 1986).
