On April 12, 1928 — St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander opens his 18th season by shutting out the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5 – 0. Frankie Frisch lead the offense for the Cardinals going 2-3 with a homerun and 3 RBI’s. Old Pete helped himself with a hit in a run scored.  On the Mound Alexander scatter 7 hits, and the Pirates never really mounted a score threat, only 1 man got to second. Burliegh Grimes a subject of a Podcast we did, did the most damage collecting 2 hits.
