August 11, 1970 AFTER THE SUPER WALLOP Cincinnati’s Tony Perez his second-inning grand slam off the New York Mets Jim McAndrews is greeted at the plate following McAndrews which carried more than 500 feet into the top deck of the new Riverfront Stadium at Cincinnati. The Reds drub-bed the Mets, 8-1.
Perez had hit a searing doudle off the center-field wall in the first inning as Jim McAndrew escaped the dutches of the Reds with the bases loaded.
The bases were full again and it was still scoreless when Perez came to bat with two out in the second inning As af McAndrew wasn’t in enough trouble he fell behind three and-oh.
