On June 4, 2007, Mark Ellis of the Oakland A’s hit for the cycle in his team’s 11-inning, 5-4 victory over the visiting Red Sox. Earlier in the week, Ellis’ wife gave birth to the couple’s first child, a boy.

The minor-league skipper continues his tirade when he crawls to the mound, throws the rosin bag like a hand grenade at the ump, and then carries second base with him as he exits AT&T Field.
On May 30, 2007, Johnny Damon collects his 2,000th career hit, a single against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
Toronto’s third baseman Howie Clark, believing he hears teammate John McDonald calling to make the play, allows Jorge Posada’s ninth-inning pop fly to land on the ground untouched for an RBI single. The Blue Jays, convinced it was baserunner Alex Rodriguez’ voice which caused the infielder to back off the play, become incensed, describing the Yankee superstar’s behavior as bush league.
On May 27, 2007, the St. Louis Cardinals option pitcher Anthony Reyes to their Triple-A team in Memphis. Reyes is 0-8 with a 6.08 ERA in his first nine starts of the season. The second year pitcher’s last victory came in Game One of the 2006 World Series against Detroit.
Jamie Moyer beats the Braves. It marks his first win against Atlanta in 20 years and 2 days, the longest stretch between victories against a team in major league history. Mike Morgan had been the previous record-holder.
In his 1,000th major league game, Ichiro Suzuki goes 3-for-6, giving the Mariner outfielder a career total of 1,414 hits. Only Hall of Famer Al Simmons compiled more in a same span of games, collecting 1,443 from 1924-1931 for the Philadelphia A’s.
John Smoltz throws 7 shutout innings in a duel against Tom Glavine, his teammate from 1988 to 2002, to help the Braves top the Mets, 2 – 1. Smoltz becomes the first pitcher in major league history with 200 career victories and 150 saves. He also becomes the first 7-game winner in the 2007 NL.
