Banks will end the season with 28 home runs and 106 RBI. Ron Santo and Billy Williams will also knock in over 100 runs, the only team with three such sluggers, but the Cubs will finish 8th.

The home plate umpire’s decision is influenced by Cardinal catcher Tim McCarver, who is jumping up and down, insisting the eventual home champion had stepped out of the batter’s box.
