Kendall also becomes the first Pirate ever to hit for the cycle at Three Rivers Stadium.

1991 â In the greatest extra-inning comeback in major league history, the Pittsburgh Pirates score six runs in the bottom of the 11th inning to erase a five-run Cubs lead built in the top of the inning on Andre Dawsonâs grand slam. The Pirates had rallied earlier from a 7 â 2 deficit to tie the game in the 9th.
On April 18, 1987, Mike Schmidt hits his 500th career home run. Schmidt connects against Don Robinson of the Pittsburgh Pirates, becoming the 14th player in history to reach the milestone. Schmidtâs home run helps the Philadelphia Phillies to an 8-6 victory.
