The Phillies and Cardinals swap catchers

On November 15, 1933 — The Phillies and Cardinals swap catchers, with hard-hitting Spud Davis going to St. Louis and Jimmy Wilson traded to the Phillies. Philadelphia makes the deal to have the former Cardinal backstop become the team’s player-manager, a position Davis will hold for five seasons.
