On August 19, 1921, in the second game of a doubleheader, Tiger player/manager Ty Cobb bangs out a single for his 3,000th career base hit. The milestone hit comes off Boston’s Elmer Myers at Navin Field in Detroit. At 34 years old, Cobb is the youngest man to reach the 3,000-hit mark.
