The Mets first baseman, who played 21 seasons roaming the outfield for the Giants before coming home to New York last season, is third on the all-time home run career list behind Babe Ruth (714) and Hank Aaron (703). Mays will retire after the Mets fall to the Oakland Aâs in the World Series.
