1994 – Jeff Bagwell is named the unanimous winner of the National League Most Valuable Player Award. He’s the third winner to gain every first-place vote and the only winner in franchise history. The players’ strike, which cut short the season, helped Bagwell since his hand was broken just before the strike commenced, not allowing time for other players to steal the spotlight in September.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds is voted the National League MVP for the third time in four years. He joins Stan Musial, Roy Campanella and Mike Schmidt as the National League’s only three-time MVPs. In his first year in San Francisco, Bonds reached career highs with a .336 batting average, 46 home runs, 129 runs and 123 RBI to help the Giants to 103 wins, although the team missed the NL West division title by one game.
Atlanta Braves third baseman Terry Pendleton, who hit .319 with 22 home runs and 86 RBI, wins the National League MVP Award. Pendleton surprisingly out-distances runner-up Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Barry Bonds (.292, 25, 116).

Pendleton will also be named NL Comeback Player of the Year, becoming the first major player to raise his average 80 points and add 16 home runs (from 6 to 22). He also wins his third Gold Glove Award. Barry Bonds is runner-up, as the two will switch places next year.
